PowerSchool has shared new update about the data breach that happened in December 2024. They are aware that a threat actor has recently reached out to multiple school district customers in an attempt to extort them using data obtained during the previously reported December 2024 incident. PowerSchool has stated that they do not believe this is a new breach. They are working closely with cybersecurity experts and have reported the activity to law enforcement agencies.
PowerSchool is still offering free credit monitoring and identity protection through Experian for all affected students and staff. We encourage all eligible individuals to sign up for these services.
